The Citroën 2CV is a low-cost car. Popularly known as two horses, produced by the French brand Citroën from 1948 to 1990, of which 3,868,634 units of the touring version and 1,246,335 of the van variants were manufactured.
Our protagonist is a unit from 1978, we found it in an acceptable condition, but it needed care and love without a doubt.
After evaluating the condition of it, the body needed to repair some specific rusty, the typical ones in this model, and renew its paint so that it would look like the first day.
It also needed cosmetic fixes like a new steering wheel, upholstery, door panels, and a new hood to protect it from the elements and allow us to open it up on sunny days. A myriad of small details was also replaced, which in the end are what make a restoration look as it should.
On a mechanical level, the gearbox was replaced with a new one, since the one it had had over the years was mechanically revised by updating the carburetion brakes, oils, and spark plugs. A rear arm was also replaced with a new one. In this way, the proper functioning of this simple but effective work of French engineering was recovered.
